How can I get involved?

There are several organizations serving refugees in Fort Worth. Amshera partners with World Relief, Catholic Charities, and others. Amshera accepts monetary donations, and gently used items that can be used by families.

I would like to donate furniture? How does that work?

Amshera accepts gently used items for families. There is no warehouse, so donations go directly to families. This takes planning and communication. Please send a text message with pictures of the items. We can often arrange pickup in the Fort Worth area. Unfortunately, we cannot accept furniture with pet hair on it.

Why should we care about refugees?

There are many Bible verses related to migration. these passages describe how the people of God are supposed to treat people who are not of their tribe or community. Leviticus 19:33-34 commands loving the stranger as yourself, remembering you were once strangers.

Deuteronomy 27:19 says “cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.”
