2021
Many Afghan refugees arrived in the US including Fort Worth TX
Angie Kraus got involved as a volunteer with a placement agency and had the privilege of meeting families from Afghanistan. She started with 29 families in one apartment complex.
2022
Amshera was formed
Many donors suggested Angie forming a nonprofit. One of the Afghan families told Angie that the other families were asking for their Hamshira- meaning respected sister. Angie decided to use this word with a Texas spelling to represent her work and organization. Families continued to arrive and Angie partnered with Fort Worth Fire Dept, Fort Worth Police, churches, and Fort Worth neighbors to expand her work to other parts of Fort Worth.
2023
Lots of donations and many new families.
We received many donations and since Angie operates Amshera out of her home, it was a busy place.
Many new families arrived, and Angie had the opportunity to meet new partners in ministry.
2024
Still more new families
We met 17 families in a single month! God was so faithful to provide for the needs. We have had MANY opportunities to pray with families as we know that God is compassionate and a wonderful provider.
2025
Refugee flow slowed, and ministry pivoted.
Hamed joined Angie part-time to volunteer as a translator and ministry partner.
2026
Ministry Continues to Afghan families and others
ESL classes, placing donated furniture, South African refugees are still arriving.
